The Royal Exchange was – and is – the City’s pride, its very icon, its true heart, a place adorned with sculpture and paintings.  In the aftermath of the Great Fire of 1666, it was on the rebuilding of the Exchange that the City first focused its energies.  The book is the work of 30 authors, among them some of the most distinguished historians in the country; it runs to 424 pages with 17 pages of colour and 271 black and white illustrations.
